APPRENTICESHIP - TELECOMMUNICATIONS
In the late 1970's, Local 164 conducted various training courses on an "as needed" basis. This evolved into our current Telecommunications Apprenticeship program, including training in such areas as:

  • Structured Wiring Systems
  • Electronic Key Systems
  • Cisco Training
  • PBX Telephone Systems
  • Local Area Networks
  • Voice/Data Switching
  • Telephone Systems
  • CATV/CCTV

  • Nurse and Emergency Call
  • Microwave Systems
  • Fiber Optics Networks
  • Underground Cabling
  • Integration Networks
  • Video, Recording and Reproduction Equipment
  • Sound Systems

This four-year, federally and state registered comprehensive telecommunication and system training program is one of the first of its kind in the nation. Students learn on the job under the supervision of experienced technicians while working for one of our signatory contractors, earning progressively increasing wages. In the evening, apprentices learn from field-expereinced instructros in classroom and lab settings.
